It doesn't matter what you do, where you're at with your personal or professional life, whether you're a manager, a team leader or a fresh graduate, what matters most is HOW you show up everyday in everything you do no matter what happens and be grateful for even the little things you have in life.
Do you choose your mindset everyday? Are you grateful for what you have in your life? If you don't yet practice this, perhaps it's time to start making this a habit. Start choosing your mindset, set your intention and send back gratitude everyday. Setting intention is like choosing the daily program that you want your mind to run everyday. I'm not joking, you can decide how do you want your day to go! Try it on and you'll get what I mean. Now you may be thinking "What if I've decided that I will experience a wonderful day but something unpleasant happen during the day that may affect my day - my mood, my thinking and my feeling, what do I do then?".
Choosing your mindset is not an act of using the magic wand to miraculously transform your day before you start. It is about taking responsibility and focusing on what you have decided to be important and everything else no longer matter. The mind is a fascinating part of our body that responds really well when we decide to take control - this is exactly why you need to decide what program to run in your mind from the start of the day! It will set itself to focus on experiencing what you've decided NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. If you've decided you'll have a great lunch catch up with a friend, the restaurant got your order mixed up; instead of getting upset about the order, your mind will automatically remind you to focus on your friend because that's what matters most.
It is the same at work, when you've chosen your mindset and clear about your purpose, a co-worker may make a certain comment about your work, your team members may not be as cooperative, instead of delving on the comment or the team members' behaviour, your mind will focus on the ways you can make it a productive and purposeful day for your team, people around you and you. When you look at it in greater depth, you don't just experience a productive and purposeful day at work but you have also created a positive Ripple Effect in your co-workers and team members' day. Isn't it a wonderful thing to be able to create such a Ripple Effect?
So my quirky way to remind you of this would be to ask yourself this question "Do you want to create positive Ripple Effect or Crippling Effect in your everyday life?" You can make that choice! Remember that you have the power to control your day and influence others!
This is how I show up everyday no matter what's going on in my life and I'm very grateful I've been able to create positive Ripple Effect in the lives of others. So how about you give it a go? It doesn't cost you anything but instead you will gain the experience of truly making a difference in your life from the day you decide to make this a habit!
As always, please leave me a comment if you like. I'd love to hear from you!
Whether you are at work, at home, socialising or even by yourself, you lead everyday. Your choice of words, your emotions, your thinking and perspective of life/things are directly and indirectly leading you and others around you.
So, what does it really take to LEAD? It's not about giving instructions or directions. The critical element in leading lies within the Environment you can choose to create for your team (yes, I'm referring to mindset here):
In summary, it's the art of knowing what matters most to your team(s) and allowing them to achieve those. When your team is in this space, they will continue to grow and bring results to the organisation. The Environment element is the one very important element that is often forgotten and I wonder why organisations face challenges in retaining good employees! My only wish is for organisations to invest time and effort in this element and bring it to live again because this is the heart of the business!
I get that numbers are important in businesses but what is numbers when organisations do not have a great team. In this modern business world, the art of selling and continuously achieving results comes from the heart that create outstanding customer experience. When a business opportunity is won, this is not the end of the customer relationship, it is just the beginning of the customer experience journey!
For those who are not leading a team just yet, this is still very applicable to you, your family and your social circle. How you do one thing is how you do everything. All you need to do is relate it to your own world because it is not about leadership but the mindset and heart to lead! And very often, the best place to start is from within!
I'd love to hear from you, so leave me a comment if you like,.
